Out-bound attachment to Uppsala University, Sweden: Mrs. Puteh Melur Wesma

Mrs. Puteh Melor Wesma bt. Salehen, our PhD Student in Solar Energy Research Institute (SERI), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia has completed her short-attachment training at Ångström Advanced Battery Centre, Department of Chemistry,Uppsala University, Sweden on 1st October to 30 November 2018. During the training period, she worked on composite anode materials using polysaccharides derivate as binder in lithium ion battery. The project aims to study the potential of carboxymethyl chitosan and carboxymethyl carrageenan as a new binder in lithium ion battery (LIB) and to evaluate the performance of new composite electrode material in LIB.

Research Activities:

1. Synthesis Carboxymethyl Chitosan and Carboxymethyl Carrageenan as a new binder material for lithium ion battery application (done in UKM)

2. Dissolution of Carboxymethyl Chitosan and Carboxymethyl Carrageenan binder with 1%wt acitic acid (CH3COOH) solvent (done in Uppsala University)

3. Preparation of anode electrode composite slurry with binder solution (done in Uppsala University) - Appendix

4. Fabrication of lithium ion battery coin cell with composite electrode half cell, and evaluation of its performance (done in Uppsala University).
