Out-bound attachment at Sophia University, Tokyo, Japan: Ms. Fatihah Najirah Jumaah & Ms. Mariah

In the period of 1st March till 30th April 2019, two of our postgraduate students, Ms. Fatihah Najirah and Ms. Mariah Zuliana completed their short attachment at Department of Materials & Life Sciences, Sophia University, Tokyo, Japan. They were supervised by Prof. Dr. Masahiro Yoshizawa-Fujita from Polymer Science Group.

During the attachment, Fatihah worked on synthesis of quaternary ammonium salt from renewable material, and Mariah worked on thermal and mechanical test on gel polymer electrolyte. Throughout the attachment, both of them were able to enriched their knowledge while carrying out their research in a high quality standard as well as in experiencing the wonderfulness of Japanese culture.

It is true as the saying goes “The hardest thing about the road not taken is that you would never know where it might be led.” This research attachment is really meant a lot for both of them and also to the Polymer Ionic Research Group in UKM, as it serves as to strengthen the networking and share the expertise. A very special appreciation goes to Prof Masahiro Yoshizawa-Fujita and the all team members for welcoming Fatihah and Mariah in the group!
