As the saying goes, "It's a big world out there; it would be a shame not to experience it." That's how one of the PhD students, Ts Nur Maizura Mustafa felt, who had the opportunity to carry out a research attachment at the Department of Materials & Life Sciences, Sophia University, Tokyo, Japan. The attachment lasted for more than 6 weeks (November 19, 2023 - December 25, 2023) and started beautifully because, at that time, Tokyo experienced the autumn season with beautiful and amazing foliage.
With a well-equipped, sophisticated, and state-of-the-art facility, Nur Maizura makes the most of the opportunity to synthesize and characterize perovskite materials using bio-based TAS salts as precursors and identify the performance of perovskite solar cells. In addition, to expand the use of bio-based TAS salts, the following ion exchange reactions and structural confirmations were also carried out in solar energy fields. All the research work became more enjoyable with the help of the Polymer Science Group, which was very helpful under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Masahiro Yoshizawa-Fujita and Prof. Yuko Takeoka.
Throughout the attachment, she enriched their knowledge while conducting research with high-quality standards and experiencing the greatness of Japanese culture. This research attachment is significant both for her and the Ionic Polymer Research Group at UKM, as it strengthens networks and shares expertise. A special appreciation goes to Prof. Masahiro Yoshizawa-Fujita, Prof. Yuko Takeoka, and all the team members for welcoming Nur Maizura to the group!
